It’s a first-class illusion that’s earned a place in the repertoires of many professional magicians. All you need is a miniature plunger (yes, the kind for unclogging drains!) and a deck of cards. In just a few minutes, you’ll perform a three-phase routine with no advanced sleight of hand required. If you don’t own it yet, it’s time to master it! It was invented by genius magician Matthew Bich from France, and a fun presentation using a plunger by John Armstrong from the United States. [Effect 1] Line up a few cards face-up on the table. Press the plunger onto the first card and it sticks! Then, one by one, the other cards leap up and cling to the plunger, stacking neatly in your hand. [Effect 2] Ask a spectator to name a number. Press the plunger into the deck, and a packet of cards lifts out. Count them: the exact number they named! [Effect 3] A card is freely chosen and returned. After shuffling, the spectator names their card (or you dramatically “suck the thought” from their mind with the plunger). Push the plunger into the deck, and half the cards rise in a block.
